We tell stories from the heart.
"The Lottery Ticket” starts with a short story by Anton Chekov written by this amazing author over a hundred years ago in a world long past. My movie, “The Lottery”, is based on that story in principle and uses a third person narrator to tell an updated version of the original short story. I took a modern approach and placed the story in the New York City of today right before marriage eguality was passed. Reworking the orginal short story's main characters, I switched them from the traditional couple to two married men. I gave the characters more depth to their lives as we learn about them from each other. By introducing the problem, the ticket became a character in itself and took their perfect lives on a turn for the worse. I was very strict in how the scenes played out as I wanted the scenes to be clean and funny but not to be a joke.
At the end, I gave an element of surprise to the story line. I wrote and explored two ways to end the story. The multiple endings gave me more to work with as I did the final edition to wrap up the project at the editing deck.
The main actors were very committed to the project as the filming took many, many months to close the production. The several dozen actors involved in the production came through Backstage.com promoted casting calls. I have a great deal of gratitude for my actors for staying committed to the film throughout the production. It was so much fun and we laughed a lot.
Every aspect of the film’s pre-production was done by me from booking the actors to selecting the locations. I borrowed most of the wardrobe from Perry Ellis International to outfit the main characters and the narrator.
During the filming I directed the film as we studied the scenes by implementing workshops with the actors to develop their characters prior to shooting day.
I did the DP and used a very small production crew including a sound man that was also my key grip, a make up artist that also did the wardrobe, and a production assistant to help me with continuity and everything else including the lights.
The post production was also done by me, including designing the promotional posters, recording voice overs, adding the digital effects and the final editing. I love what I do every time.

I have been an artist since my childhood in a small town in Puerto Rico. Leaving Puerto Rico right after High School, I joined the U.S. Army in 1984 and stayed until mid 1996. I moved to New York City and became part of O.P.ART, an organization of Puerto Rican Artists. For a few years, I went on gallery tours in New York City, USA Tours and Puerto Rico.
In 2000, I attended The New School University of NYC and studied film theory, script writing, acting, film production, media, and documentary studies with a minor in anthropology. I graduated in 2004. I feel like “the sky is the limit” by writing, producing, directing and editing my own projects.
Working with all budgets, I have to be very smart and flexible about how to produce my work. Storyboarding my films is a very fun part of my creative process.
I also work the camera under The Uncanny Works. Network
Every day with the social media sites, our names are tagged onto pictures by friends, colleagues and people.
We collect an overwhelming amount of data such as selfies, pictures, and images from apps on our smart phones and tablets. We also exchange graphic work on these various social sites.
What happens when all these photographs are put together and assigned to a beat as we see here as life takes form.
No video was used in the making of this short. I only used photographs and digitally manipulated pictures with images from my social media sites that were exchanged or downloaded to me and from me. Every photo on this short has a beat.
